In 2010, I was diagnosed with an Upper Motor Neuron Disease. As the condition progressed, I found myself in need of an assistive device to communicate.

When I looked for solutions in 2011, I found that existing apps were either prohibitively expensive or lacking the features I actually needed. So, I decided to build my own.

With no background in programming or computer science, I taught myself to code using online courses and numerous books. Talk For Me - Text to Speech is the direct result of those efforts—an app designed by someone who actually needs it.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Stanford University for their incredible free online courses, to Stephen Kochan for his programming guides, and of course to Apple for providing the tools that allow us to create such impactful technology.
